How To Find Balance Between Active And Sedentary Play Activities?

You can't just ban kids from their everyday activities that involve the use of electronic devices that, in the long, run harm their health. However, you can certainly find a way to balance between the activities, so your child gets the best of both worlds. This can be an excruciating task, but it is not impossible. Below, we will discuss some of the ways that can help you find an equilibrium for your child's day to day tasks.
Learn more about your child
Regardless of how well you think you know your child, there is always something (some hobbies and interests that children pursue in secret) that your child keeps from you. There are fewer parents who establish a strong bond with their children and, hence, know more about their children's lives. But not everybody enjoys the same bond. So, for those who are not fortunate enough to be more involved in their children's lives: Learn more about your children and see what interests them apart from their video games.
Create a schedule
After you have learned about what your children would like to do when they are not burning their eyes in front of a screen, make sure that you do everything in your power to find the time for their activities. Community playgrounds and outdoor playground equipment are a great way to engage kids with outdoor activities. However, kids do not appreciate the same kind of jading playground equipment. So try something new. Here are some ideas that you can try:
• Arrange play dates more often
• Visit a different city
• Invent indoor games (children love to do unique things they have never tried before)
• Engage them with arts and crafts (make it a competition)
• Build a tree house and decorate it
• Create a physical game utilizing gardening tools
Make kids adapt
If your kids do not appear to be taking an interest in anything, then have the talk. Do not be preachy. Ask them questions like "you haven't played football in a while, is everything OK?" Or " you don't seem to enjoy your piano lessons any more, what's wrong?" Try to understand your child rather than forcing him to commit to a certain activity just because you think it's better for him.
For example, if your child cringes away from the idea of playing with the school playground equipment, find the cause and try to provide him with a replacement that he enjoys. If you introduce a new activity, make sure that you help your kids adapt to it gently not forcefully. Do not take away their gaming devices; making kids do thing by force only provokes them. Most kids become rebellious if they have to indulge in something unwillingly.
Finding a balance can be an excruciating task, especially with children who are set in their ways. But you have to find that equilibrium if you want your child to spend a healthy, proactive life. Use the above-mentioned ways to make your child's life more active and productive.
