Some time back one of our regulars, a lovely guy called Nick Jeffrey,
posted this picture of oil droplets floating on water to our Facebook
page, and said he'd read about it in a magazine. As we love low tech
photo ideas we asked Nick if he'd be up for showing us how he did the
shot.
Oil droplets floating on water doesn't sound very exciting but it makes a great abstract photo and is easy to achieve with just a few household items. Drink cans, coloured paper, desk lamp - stuff like that. Oh and a camera of course!
Backlighting translucent things like oil, water, ice etc makes them come to life because the light coming from behind accentuates the edges. We've got a neat exercise to help you with what light works with what if you're interested please come see us at http://www.photographycourses.biz/goo...
Nick is a raving photographer and we'd like to say thanks for sharing mate. It's one thing to read about a photography technique - and quite another to see it demonstrated.
